If you’re interested in improving the lives of Colfax and Pullman area residents who have disabilities, the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment (GCDE) wants to hear from you.
The GCDE invites you to a public Town Hall Forum to discuss:
- Accessible housing.
- Services for families in need.
- Jobs for people with disabilities.
- Accessible transportation.
- All other issues affecting people with disabilities, their families and their advocates.
The day after the forum, the GCDE will take your top three or four concerns straight to local elected officials, service providers and leaders in the disability community to prioritize and strategize. But first — they need your ideas to start.
“GCDE members are interested in learning everything we can about the lives of people with disabilities in the Colfax and Pullman areas,” said Melany Sheik, chair of the GCDE’s Community Outreach Subcommittee. “We want to hear both the challenges and success stories. What is your community doing well and where does it need to improve? We want best practices and ideas for positive change.”
The GCDE Community Outreach Subcommittee travels to two communities every year. To read a summary of last year’s forum in Anacortes, see the GCDE Projects page on its website.
