ASOTIN COUNTY, Washington – Earlier this week Asotin County held a resource fair for high school students with disabilities.
A variety of agencies were at the fair to provide services to students with disabilities. The goal of the event was to make sure these students can thrive after high school.
These agencies teamed up with the Washington Department of Developmental Disabilities and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to give students with disabilities transition services to be successful upon graduating.
Many of these agencies work with the school district to connect with students and provide year-round opportunities. WorkSource was one of the agencies at the resource fair, they help students find their place in the work force.
“We are a great resource for folks that are just looking for work, you don’t have to be eligible,” Employment and Training Supervisor for Rural Resources Community Action Morgan Smith said.
They help students with…
“Resumes, job search, interview prep, and we really are hands on with the folks that come into our office,” Morgan Smith said.
Asotin County Coordinator Cynthia Tierney says she wants the community to know that those with disabilities deserve a place in the workforce and are an integral part of the community.
“We need to work together to make sure they have an involvement in the community, both for fun and for work. because everyone has a right to work no matter your abilities or disabilities,” Cynthia Tierney said.
