A Mental Health Awareness Walk was held on May 29th, 4:00 – 5:30 pm hosted by Disability Action Center NW, the 1912 Center, WRAP, a peer support group, and the Latah Recovery Center. This family friendly event started at the Latah Recovery Community Center and proceed to the 1912 Building where information and speakers presented. Everyone in the community was wearing something lime green.
“May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we wanted to start the conversation,” said Sharlisa Davis, certified facilitator of the WRAP Group, the organizer of the event. “Mental Illness is a disease, not a decision. And we hope to end the stigma.”
Snacks and water was provided at the 1912 Center and free limeade from Palouse Juice along with a free drawing for participants was in Friendship Square where the walk ended.
