Residents receiving needed wheelchair ramps for free

Local residents are benefiting from a grant received in September 2016 by the Disability Action Center NW that allows for the installation of modular wheelchair ramps at residences at no cost to the recipient
Accessible wheelchair ramps were recently installed at homes in Moscow and Pullman, and another home in Moscow is scheduled to receive one Friday.
The grant received by the Disability Action Center NW was in the amount of $17,500 from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. The grant provided money to purchase a variety of modular aluminum ramp systems that are designed to address different needs. The ramps are being installed for community members on a short- or long-term loan basis through Palouse Habitat for Humanity.
Volunteers from the Moscow Lyons Club and community, who have been trained in the installation process, have been helping with the ramp installs.
