HOMEFRONT PROGRAM
Homefront is an evidence-based NAMI Family-to-Family program designed to address the unique needs of family, caregivers and friends of active duty military service members and veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other mental health conditions. Approximately 18.5 percent of servicemembers returning from Iraq or Afghanistan have PTSD or depression, and 19 percent report experiencing a TBI during deployment.
Attending an in-person class can be difficult for busy individuals and families. This free online suite of resources for caregivers, family members, and military service members and veterans is designed to increase understanding, communication, wellness and advocacy skills. It addresses mental health conditions, treatment options, approaches to overall wellness, tips for self-care and managing stress, communication strategies, transitioning from military to civilian life, links to helpful organizations and more!
It consists of six free 2.5-hour peer-taught sessions for the family members, caregivers and friends of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions. This online suite of resources is accessible through computers or mobile devices. The free resource center is available 24/7, both in the U.S. and for those stationed overseas.
