Disability Action Center NW

One of the hardest questions I get asked is also the most common. What is it exactly that DAC NW does? It’s always hard to explain that in a short, elevator speech. But what it comes down to is this: we are independent living advocates. What is that, you ask?

I am always proud of the work we do at DAC. And the personal stories I see of people who have taken control of their lives when others thought they were unable to because they had a disability. We all want to make our own decisions. And people with disabilities do to!

“I’ve heard people say, ‘Diana, you have overcome your disability,’ and I think, ‘No, I’ve overcome the stigmas.’ I’m not working to overcome my disability. I’m working to dismantle the stigmas that are associated with my disability.” ~ Diana Elizabeth Jordan, actor and activist
