Disability Action Center NW

DAC NW has been busy preparing for the Tools for Life conference, this year being held in Idaho Falls. They will be bringing their Cooking Class on a Budget. How to prepare healthy breakfasts, lunches and dinners for a whole week for $28.40.

“Having a disability can put you at risk for developing osteoporosis, bed sores, asthma, heart disease, and arthritis as a secondary condition. Eating healthy is a way you can prevent that,” said Vicki Leeper, the class’s instructor. “Yet people with disabilities typically have a lower income, so saving money is important.”

This cooking class covers shopping tips, leftover use, and making the best use of your time in the kitchen. Many of the recipes are make ahead for grab and go meal options. A cookbook, menu plan, instructions and a shopping list is included for each participant. And since it’s a live demonstration class, there will be free tastings of some of the recipes.

In addition to the class at Tools For Life, the same class will be offered on two different days at Community Action Center in Pullman Washington. The first will be May 29th, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The second will be June 13th at 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Registration is required to make sure you receive a free cookbook. You can find the registration links here.
