Disability Action Center NW

DAC NW – OFFERS INCLUSIVE COOKING CLASS

DAC NW does a number of outreach events for people with disabilities. Our latest is a Cooking Class with the Latah Alliance on Mental Illness. In this cooking class you will learn shopping techniques, cooking skills and all the tools you will need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for a full week for around $30 of groceries.

Our presenter is old enough to remember the last bout of real inflation in the 70’s and grew up with parents from the depression. She was raised to know how to get through tough times and learned to buy less and buy smarter.

Almost half of all Americans are overweight, largely due to an unhealthy diet. Did you know people who are 15 pounds overweight can lose as much as 4 years off their life?

This class is free and will feature demonstrations and tastings of some of the recipes. And a free cookbook is included when you register. You will learn how to cook once and have meals for several days. How to freeze ready-to-eat meals for an on-the-go lifestyle. These recipes will create a week’s worth of meals for one person (plus some!) and will provide healthy food that is filling and tasty. Please join us on November 15th, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm at the 1912 Center, 412 E Third Street in Moscow, ID. Please let us know by November 6th of you need accommodations. This class is also available over zoom and you can pick up your cookbook from the Moscow office anytime the day before the event, and after. Please be sure to register first so we have enough cookbooks!
