These special events are dedicated to supporting homeless and at-risk veterans by connecting them with the resources, services, and respect that they deserve.
Originally modeled after the military practice of providing troops with a safe retreat to rest and recover, Stand Downs offer a “hand up, not a hand out.”
At these one day events, veterans can access a wide range of free services, all in one place. This can include medical and dental care, hot meals, showers and hair cuts, housing and legal assistance, mental health supports, clothing and other supplies and more.
Organized by local VA offices, volunteers, community agencies, and other fellow veterans come together to foster camaraderie and trust. Especially for veterans who may struggle to navigate the fragmented systems on their own. That’s where CIL’s come in! We have the experience to help vets find the resources they need to be independent and part of our community.
On Wednesday, August 13, the Lewiston-Clarkston community will host a Stand Down at the Clearwater River Casino, bringing these vital services to local veterans. It’s a chance for those who’ve served to get services – all under one roof!
Whether you are a veteran in need or a family member, this is a powerful opportunity to connect our heroes with the support they deserve – at no cost to them.
