Ashley is strong supporter of the Independent Living Philosophy. “It’s important that others see those with disabilities as humans first. We laugh, we cry, we dance. We have relationships and feelings and full, rich, complex lives too. One of the most important aspects to independence is the ability to stay in your own home – having that taken away is her biggest fear. She has learned to treat others with kindness no matter what and it’s okay to feel sad or defeated, but you must always rise and rise again. You may find her out and about in the community, reading a book in the sun, or loving on her friend’s babies as they are her most favorite people in the entire universe!
