Mellowdee Brooks has worked at DAC before for a total of 11 years and brings a lifetime of first hand experience living with a disability to the Independent Living Advocate position. Her training includes a M.Ed in Special Education, Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Mellowdee uses this training assisting consumers in Assistive Technology and Emergency Preparedness. She is a ready to empower the consumer to be part of the system change by advocating for themselves. The best part of her job is removing barriers, so that all people have access. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her friends and in the outdoors. The main lesson she has learned in life is “Don’t worry so much!”
