If you have difficulty reading print on a page or a screen, maybe books or magazines in audio format would be helpful.
The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library (WTBBL) offers free library service for anyone in Washington State who has difficulty reading standard print.
They have over 170,000 audio books and 75 magazines in their ever-growing collection of materials. These books and magazines are available free by mail with a provided digital talking look player or by downloading a free BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download App) on a smart phone or tablet.
There are no waiting lists, no due dates, and all titles are available whenever you want them. If you’re not sure what you want, they can tailor your book selections to your interests, favorite authors or series. There are even librarians available Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:00 to help with book requests or to answer questions. The free digital talking book player is designed to be easy to use, has large buttons, spoken button descriptions, high contrast colors and shapes, and a long-lasting battery. And they can mail you the materials you want. If you prefer the BARD app, the staff can help you learn how to use it and trouleshoot any issues. It’s designed to be simple to use and only requires WiFi or cellular to download a book, but not to listen to it.
