Disability Caravan for Freedom Tour – Moscow

Disability Action Center NW in Moscow will be one of the stops on the route of the Caravan for Disability Freedom and Justice. A collective of people with disabilities, their allies, are driving throughout the United States, visiting various cities. It is scheduled to be here at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 9th, before moving on to Spokane, Washington.
Mark Leeper, Executive Director of DAC NW will drive the vehicle from Sacramento, California to our area, before handing it off to a group in Helena, Montana. “It’s an honor to drive this caravan to Washington and Idaho,” said Leeper. “The campaign emphasizes the work we are doing to provide advocacy, programs and services that support independence and inclusion for people with disabilities.”
Refreshments will be served, photo opportunities, and information will be on display about the Caravan’s work to bring awareness to the Latonya Reeves Freedom Act, a bipartisan civil rights legislation that addresses the need for people with disabilities to receive supports to stay in their homes as an alternative to institutionalization.
The public is welcome to attend!
